As part of his studies in Master 2 International Relations and Diplomacy at IPAG in Brest, Kevin Cuello, ancien président de l’association Tenuki, had the idea of ​​creating an international project around the game of Go. With the help of Modibo Toure, student involved in the project, he would like to establish a cultural exchange between the Brest Go club and another one in Japan…

Debuting his research, he discovered the existence of a twinning partnership between the city of Brest and a Japanese city, Yokosuka. This is an incredible opportunity that will permit to save time in searching for potential partners in Go. Step by step, successive mails have led the two students to contact M. Toshio Kajiwara, responsible for the Go association of Kanagawa and former president of the Yokosuka Go Association. The septuagenarian 6th dan amateur level was obviously seduced by the project, and encouraged them to continue their efforts to enter into a partnership with the Association of GB Yokosuka…

After several weeks, the two students returned their academic project, but Kevin continues to make the partnership between the two associations. Thanks to Go players volunteers from the two cities, the exchange will start…

Port city of 415.000 inhabitants located 60 km to the south of Tokyo, Yokosuka has the distinction of having a naval base housing the Seventh Fleet of the U.S. Navy and the strength of maritime defense of Japan.
The link with the city of Brest was in 1865, when expert in arsenals François Léonce Verny was appointed director of the construction of the arsenal of Yokosuka. Many exchanges have taken place since, until a twinning charter formalizes this relationship the 19 July 1971.
